If you’re the owner of a rental property, you’re fully aware of the value that comes from having high-quality tenants. If you’ve found good tenants, you’ve found a very good thing. In the long run, it’s in your best interests to keep those tenants happy, and a big step in that direction is to be proactive about safety and security in and around your rental property.
To do that, you might perform a walkthrough of the property from time to time to scope out ways to improve safety and security. “Safety” refers to preventing anything that could endanger a person’s health. “Security” might include safety, but it primarily involves preventing property damage – both yours and your tenants’. Is there adequate lighting inside and outside the property? Are there trip hazards due to walkways in disrepair? Do the locks work well? Is there any exposed wiring? Are there any potential fire hazards?
